Hen examination guidelines
If one of your hens seems unwell, this video can help you assess what might be going on. Gathering a few observations in advance can also make it easier for a vet to diagnose and treat the issue.
We recommend checking your flock regularly. Once you're familiar with your hens’ normal behavior and condition, changes become easier to spot. If possible, check a healthy hen first so you have a clear point of comparison.
This video was created by the British Hen Welfare Trust, our UK partner organization, and reflects common practices for small flock keepers.
